When were you first licensed ? In 1965 or ’66 in Michigan first as WN8TIV then WA8TIV then in the late 80’s or early 90’s I became KB9IVA.

How did you become interested in radio? When I was in school I was asked to build a project for a special event and I built a crystal radio.

Favorite Radio Activities and Locations ? QRP & Adventure Radio W/ QRP CW is my favorite mode.

Future Hobby Plans or Goals ? Going to Florida in the winter & working QRP from the Beaches.

Member of any radio organizations or clubs ? I belong to the Michiana Amateur Radio Club, Elkhart In Amateur Radio Club “EARC”, Mi QRP Club Skcc, Naqrpcc ARCI.

Describe some of your favorite field radio experiences:

  • Going To Dayton HamVention
  • Doing QRP in the field & Adventure Radio

  • Elecraft K3 and Elecraft Kx3.
  • Numerous Magnetic loops.
  • Several Wire Antennas at home – like to build and design wire Antennas.

Modes: CW and some SSB mostly CW.
